Jason Sammis has focused his career on defending individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses in Tampa, FL. He co-founded the Sammis Law Firm in 2008. After growing up in Tampa, FL, he graduated from high school at Berkeley Preparatory. He graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1996.
In 1999, he graduated from the University of Florida (UF) College of Law. While at the UF College of Law, Jason was a member of the prestigious Florida Law Review. Jason was also elected the Vice-Chair and then Chair of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Board.
Since co-founding the Sammis Law Firm in 2008, he has focused exclusively on criminal and DUI defense in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Leslie M. Sammis

Leslie Sammis graduated from law school at the University of Florida, with Honors, in 1999. She gained valuable trial experience while completing internships with the State Attorney’s Office prosecuting felony offenses, the United States Attorney’s Office in Tampa assisting federal prosecutors, and a federal judicial internship with the Honorable Henry Lee Adams, Jr., United States District Judge, for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.
As a former Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida, Leslie has represented hundreds of clients in misdemeanor, felony, and DUI cases.
Since entering private practice in 2001, Leslie continued to focus exclusively on criminal defense and has obtained numerous “not guilty” verdicts at trial for misdemeanor and felony criminal charges with an emphasis on DUI defense. She has conducted hundreds of formal review hearings at the Bureau of Administrative Review (BAR) in both Tampa and Clearwater, FL.

Joshua L. Monteiro

After graduating magna cum laude from the State University of New York (SYNU) in Potsdam, Joshua L. Monteiro earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. He served as a former Assistant Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County and the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pasco County.
In addition to his legal and educational experience, Joshua served over 27 years in the U.S. Army, on both active and reserve duty. His experience in the Army has provided him with a wealth of leadership and decision-making skills. He continues to serve as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Originally from New Jersey, Katherine Aranda moved to Tampa, FL to attend the University of Tampa. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Katherine earned her Law Degree from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, FL. Katherine competed on the nationally ranked Trial Team, worked with the Innocence Project on prosecutorial misconduct cases, and completed a semester of clinical work with the Public Defender’s Office in Clearwater. After law school, Katherine served as an Assistant Public Defender for the 6th Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, FL. She gained extensive jury trial experience by defending clients charged with an array of criminal offenses ranging from misdemeanor traffic violations, DUIs, and Petit Thefts to serious felony offenses for aggravated battery, firearm offenses, and drug trafficking.

Dominique Celerin earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami School of Law. After Dominique returned to Tampa, she served as an Assistant Public Defender in Hillsborough County for more than three years. Dominique has defended a wide array of clients charged with juvenile offenses, misdemeanor offenses, felony violations of probation, and serious felony cases. She has also successfully written and argued several motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, and bond motions. Dominique’s trial and litigation experience included handling serious charges such as sexual battery, aggravated stalking, possession of a controlled substance, and DUIs.

Jennifer Pond

Jennifer Pond has been a paralegal and office manager at the Sammis Law Firm, P.A., for the last six years. She is primarily responsible for helping the clients charged with DUI and other serious driving offenses during the case.
Throughout the client’s pending DUI case, Jennifer plays an important role at the firm by coordinating the dates for the formal review hearing, getting subpoenas served, and assisting the clients in obtaining a 42-day driving permit while the attorneys fight the administrative suspension. Jennifer also helps the attorneys obtain videotape evidence and schedule court appearance. She works with the attorneys to file all appropriate motions and pleadings in DUI cases.

Danielle M. Wynimko, F.R.P.

Danielle Wynimko has fulfilled the requirements set forth by the Supreme Court of Florida to be recognized by the Florida Bar as a Florida Registered Paralegal. To maintain certification, Danielle must complete continuing education, including classes related to legal ethics and professionalism. Danielle helps the attorneys with gathering information during the investigation, drafting motions in felony and misdemeanor cases and scheduling depositions and hearings.
